Eric & Gwen Hill, Garage Visit Sunday August 1st

About 60 members and invited friends arrived for snags in bread and a tour of Eric & Gwens collection of cars. The marques included Lincoln, Rolls, Jaguar, Cadillac, Thunderbird & early Ford.

Melbourne weather did its best to discourage members bringing along theirown cars with rain, light hail & 12 degree temperature. A few members did brave the weather including John Hull in his MKIV that blew a high pressure power steering line when parking. This resulted in a small fire quickly noticed and attended to preventing what could have been a disastrous day for Australia's most air brushed Lincoln.

Although cold outside a gas heater inside coped well. Members and guests from a variety of other clubs and motor industry services all enjoyed the day as well as the variety of different cars displayed.

Storage of the cars has been made easier by the recent installation of seven, 4 post parking hoists and one 2 post service hoist. This effectively means that 16 cars can take up eight ground positions. The 4 post parking hoists are an extra wide model (200mm additional) that is great for American autos. They were supplied & installed by "Tuff Lift" appearing in the"links" section of our website. Tuff Lift offer 10% discount to LMCCA members.

Thanks to Gary & Kerryn for towing the BBQ trailer & arranging the food. Andrew Hyde for taking over the kitchen duty & Ryan Lednar, Craig Hill, BillEmeny for assisting in the closing clean up.

Born In The USA 2010 at Docklands

Saturday March 6th was a very costly day in Melbourne for insurers and car owners with torrential rain and hail the size of golf balls totally destroying any car exposed to the elements.

One would be excused to think that Born In The USA at Docklands scheduled the following day would be buried especially when at 7am rain was again bucketing down; however this was not the case. Whilst severely down in numbers more than enough classic American cars braved the conditions and attended.

Apart from the 7am downpour and some light early rain the day did improve with blue sky at times.

Sixteen trophies were presented including the best club display won by a group of 8 cars from the Chev Club which included Trans Am & Firebirds.

The day was a great success made so by the help of many club members that worked tirelessly from 8.30am to 4.30pm. Gary's good planning provided a lounge retreat for members when a break was needed.

It was great that WA member Dave Perry managed to attend to meet our Victorian members.
