For the 3rd year LMCCA had been invited to join the festivities of the local Rotary organized Diamond Creek Town Fair.
We all met at the Eltham Hotel car park before a cruise to Diamond Creek. The 25 degree day was a reality but the weather man said nothing about an early 2 minute shower that rained a red dust and meant a frantic piece of chamois magic before the procession.
Ryan made his job harder after being caught with his convertible top down and having an interior to contend with as well.
The parade through the towns main street looked great! The cars were among the highly respected CFA crews that fought devastating bush fires last February, as well as displays from Ulysses Motor Cycle Club, Ford Car Club and many volunteer organizations.
The air suspension on Garys MKIV was working overtime & Ryan’s 66 convertible was bouncing up & down like a yo-yo. Eric almost perfected the air horn wolf whistle on the Crown Victoria and seemed happy that the police on duty didn’t flinch at the unrestricted exhaust set up. The woozy rose graphic on the continental kit now replaced by “The Fonz”
Peter & Linda clicked up their 2nd outing in the Cad’ coupe which was gleaming from hours of detailing, and as usual the graphics on John’s “Fools Gold” MKIV was a traffic stopper. Kevin rocked up in “ABE” still among the best unmolestered MKIV’s in existence, and we were also supported by Theo & Lucinda Vennix from the T/Bird club that joined us in their spectacular 58 Desoto.
Through Garys sheer perseverance we were moved from an allocated gravel (dusty) area to grass in the oval centre where we set up our marquee display. This proved fruitful as once again the LMCCA took home a trophy… Best commercial display. This is somewhat significant as the fair is not a car show and our display competitors were business’s that can easily out spend us.
The prank of the day seemed to be Ryans remote control air suspension set up that allows the driverless car to jump to attention when approached this seems to scare the crap out of unexpecting onlookers whilst providing a good source on entertainment to the perpetrator.
