Hanging Rock, Feb 14th 2010

After a hesitant start with fears of looming bad weather and Peter Normanand Gary Ibbitson losing sight of Jim on the highway, we all arrived safely albeit parked in 3 different locations. Gary Ibbitson (down from QLD for theshow) took the opportunity to travel to the event in Peter's 79 Towncar and of course the conversation was glorious Lincoln Lincoln Lincoln all the way.

The show was a huge success with over 2000 cars of every description. The rain was nowhere to be found and Peter was relieved that there was no mud. In fact there was dust (Gary Tyley just loves dust hehe).

The LMCCA club had a good turnout (see photo) and the club put on a good show with it's marque and a display of motoring books. We also showed off the club trailer, now fully adorned with the club logo.

Gary Tyley and Peter had a good opportunity to "rest" on the trip home as it seemed to take 45 minutes of slow crawl to get back onto the highway, but the day was too good to be spoiled by such minor inconveniences.

Attendees:

Peter Norman
Gary Tyley
Kerryn Doorbar
Jim and Leanne
Andrew and Felicia Hyde
Gary Ibbitson
Frank Richards

Chrome Bumper Show at Eastfield Park Melbourne, Sunday 31st Jan

The weather man said it would be a hot day & as promised it was a stinker at close on 40 degrees.

We met at the Manhattan Hotel at 8.30am and cruised off to Eastfield Park at around 9am. Arriving at about 9.15am we found Eastfield filling fast with about 200+ cars and so headed for clear ground in the back stalls where we had room to erect our marquee and arrange our cars in a herring bone line to make the display a bit more interesting than what others we doing.

It was good to catch up at an event for the 1st time with member Phil Smith.Phil had bought along his rather outrageous 75 Cadillac Eldorado convertible that is very heavily themed along the old west lines with generous lashings of cow hide inserts into seats and trim. Holstered 6 shooters are attached to each of the front seats (sorry that photo was out of focus & omitted).

New member Trevor Brooker also arrived in his rare & stunning 78 Diamond Jubilee and we also caught up with Bob Mullany in his really nice 76 MKIV. Richard Cantwell was able to show of his old fibreglass making skills with the debut of a recently completed fibreglass toneau cover that fits over the rear seats of Thunderbird convertibles, Richards creation looks better made than a factory job (see picture).

Eastern Beach Geelong‏

A great day was had at Geelong over the weekend of January 9 & 10th. A display of 10 cars that included 2 potential new members was set up in the plaza at Eastern Beach Geelong. Kerryn towed the new LMCCA BBQ trailer which had its debut and really looked magnificent in 2 pak burgundy with its stainless steel skirts, dressed upwith a Lincoln MKIV grille kindly donated by Mark Russell and 4 chrome spoke wheels donated by yours truly from a much loved Thunderbird. The trailer has a slide out BBQ which has yet to be tested but now we have the means of transporting all our sound gear, flags banners, marquee etc to shows; Gary now has some free trunk space. At 2pm four Lincolns and one Mercury were excused from the display to take part acting as wedding cars for Geelong member Ryan Atherton and bride Stephanie. Ryan & Stephanie made a stunning couple and the wedding party looked fabulous as did the cars. Ryan & Stephanie are honeymooning in USA and I wouldn't be surprised if the shopping included keeping an eye open for a .93% exchange rate four wheeled bargain.
