The weather man said it would be a hot day & as promised it was a stinker at close on 40 degrees.
We met at the Manhattan Hotel at 8.30am and cruised off to Eastfield Park at around 9am. Arriving at about 9.15am we found Eastfield filling fast with about 200+ cars and so headed for clear ground in the back stalls where we had room to erect our marquee and arrange our cars in a herring bone line to make the display a bit more interesting than what others we doing.
It was good to catch up at an event for the 1st time with member Phil Smith.Phil had bought along his rather outrageous 75 Cadillac Eldorado convertible that is very heavily themed along the old west lines with generous lashings of cow hide inserts into seats and trim. Holstered 6 shooters are attached to each of the front seats (sorry that photo was out of focus & omitted).
New member Trevor Brooker also arrived in his rare & stunning 78 Diamond Jubilee and we also caught up with Bob Mullany in his really nice 76 MKIV. Richard Cantwell was able to show of his old fibreglass making skills with the debut of a recently completed fibreglass toneau cover that fits over the rear seats of Thunderbird convertibles, Richards creation looks better made than a factory job (see picture). |
